The Imperial War Museum North is an outstanding institution that sets out to provide a focus for debate and understanding of conflict. The award winning museum opened in 2002 with a Daniel Libeskind building in the Salford Dockland area of Manchester. Working together with a team from the Research Centre for Museums and Galleries (RCMG) at the School of Museum Studies, University of Leicester one of the main goals of the collaborative research and planning project was to investigate and work toward solutions for the falling number of repeat visitors.
