Footballers, Fighters and Legends
Exhibition - Footballers, Fighters and Legends
6 min. 2-channel synchronous HD video, 6-channel audio, 2006
A circular two-channel video installation, as a collage made up of archive photos and film material, tells the story from the beginning of German football up to the rise of the Nazis to power. Five prominent Jewish players and their teams, including Walther Bensemann, testify to this history. Three black wedges – bearing graphics – break open the circle and illustrate the fates of the players after 1933.
